FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I need to trim my GPS file to just the race?
No. Upload your whole session — warmup and cooldown included. The system automatically finds the fastest valid segment between the course's start and finish lines and uses that as your time, so there's no need to edit your file first.
What file formats can I upload?
GPX, FIT, and CSV files are all supported, and you can import an activity directly from Strava once you've connected your account. Export your activity from Garmin Connect, Strava, Apple Fitness, or any GPS device.
Why wasn't my time recorded?
Your track didn't cross the course's start and finish lines (or, for gate courses, every gate in the right order and direction) as configured. The upload page shows a diagnostic map of your recorded track against the course lines so you can see what happened — usually the GPS wasn't recording through one of the lines, or the activity went a different way than the course expects.
Are heart rate and cadence stored?
No. Heart rate and cadence are intentionally discarded when your file is parsed, even if the source file contains them. Only position and time are kept.
Why are different boat classes on the same leaderboard?
Every entry records its boat class, and the leaderboard can be filtered to a single class. Comparing across classes — say a K1 to an 8+ — isn't meaningful, so filter to your own class to see where you stand.
Who can see my time?
It depends on the course's visibility. Public courses and their trials are visible to anyone; private courses are visible only to their owner; group courses are visible to that group's members. When you make a trial public the Terms of Service note that your performance times may become visible to others.
What's a group?
A group is whoever runs the trials — a club, a coaching squad, or just you. Courses and time trials belong to a group, and the group's admins are the people allowed to create and manage them. Most paddlers just join the group running their event and upload; you only need to create a group if you want to organise trials yourself.
How do I run a time trial?
Create a group first (you become its admin), then create a course inside it and open a time trial on that course. The "create a group" link is on the Groups page. Until you have a group, the create-course and create-trial buttons stay hidden — that's deliberate, so paddlers who just want to upload aren't shown organiser controls.
Why don't I see a "create trial" or "create course" button?
Creating courses and trials is for group admins. If you don't belong to a group you can manage, you'll see a "create a group" prompt instead — create one to become its admin, or ask an admin of an existing group to add you.
How do I submit my result?
Open the trial page and upload your trace (file, URL, or Strava import). If the trial is members-only, you need to be a member of the group running it first — the upload page will show a "join this group to submit" link when that's the case. Public trials accept anyone; invitational trials accept the people the organiser invited.
How do I join a group?
Open the group's page and use **Request to join** — an admin approves you — unless the group is set to open, in which case you join instantly. Admins can also send you an invitation by email, or share a join link that lets you join in one click. An invite-only group can only be joined via an admin invitation.
